Pinot noir 2009
tasting notes
This is a soft, velvety Pinot of great richness and depth of flavour.
Look for deep, dark berries, especially blackberry and mulberry, with surprising glimmers of raspberry. A slightly savoury fringe of black olives and cigar box add complexity to the primary flavours, and lovely French oak complements the fruit. Enjoy the long, clean finish.
The outstanding feature of our 2009 Pinot is its opulent and round palate which is characteristic of our 2009 vintage wines in general, and demonstrates why Pinot noir is considered to be the Queen of Grapes.

2012
Good hue and clarity; a fragrant and expressive bouquet with vibrant, spicy red berry fruits; the palate is long and full of all the right flavours with an almost juicy finish.

vintage
A very dry and warm spring was followed by good rain in early summer.
January was very hot and dry with 40 and up to 46°C recorded every week, and rainfall from January till March only 40% of our average. Exposed grapes shrivelled and fell off and we lost about 10% of the crop.
Vintage started on the 15 of March with all grapes showing concentrated flavours.
Overall 2009 was one of the best years in terms of grape quality.
